Mission and Goals

Over the years the Centre has developed interdisciplinary research in the fields of Democracy and State-Building, Migration and Citizenship, Minority Rights, Privacy and the Digital Environment, Criminal Law, Bioethics, the Rights of the Child, etc.
Its activities include fundamental and applied research; cooperation with state authorities and international organisations in drafting legislative projects and by providing legal opinions and comparative studies; organisation of scientific events and support for its members’ participation in scientific events in Portugal and abroad; participation in educational projects in Portugal and in several Lusophone countries; publication of edited volumes and conference proceedings; dissemination events open to the general public and in cooperation with civil society organisations.
