Structure
The DH-CII is composed by the Director, the Executive Committee, the Scientific Council, the External Scientific Advisory Committee and the Researchers.
Director
The Director is elected by the Scientific Council.
The Director shall:
Represent the Center;
Ensure the coordination of the different projects and activities;
Coordinate the activity of the Center in accordance with the purposes defined in the
Regulation;Manage the human and material resources made available to the Center;
Approve the admission of members;
Managing the financial resources allocated to or obtained by the Center, namely those attributed by the University, the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and other financing entities;
Convene meetings of the Advisory Committee and the Scientific Council;
Convene and preside chair plenary meetings of researchers;
Ensure compliance with the deliberations of the Scientific Council and the Board of Directors.
Executive Committee
The Executive Committee consists of the Director and tw members nominated by the Director within the Doctorate Members.
The following are the competences of the Executive Committee:
Draw up the annual and multiannual plans of activities, the budget and the report;
Decide on all matters that are put by the Director and exercise the powers delegated to them;
Propose the approval of protocols with similar institutions and / or entities providing services, within the scope of the Centre’s attributions.
Scientific Council
The Scientific Council shall be composed of all Doctorate Members of the Center and shall be chaired by the Director.
The Scientific Council shall:
Define the Centre’s scientific policy and approve the creation, exclusion or restructuring of research lines;
Define the general principles of allocation of human and material resources to Projects and Research Lines;
Approve the activity plan, budget and activity report;
Approve the creation, extinction or restructuring of projects;
Elect the Director;
Approve the constitution of the Monitoring Committee, upon proposal of the Board of Directors;
Deal with other matters submitted by the Director, by the Board of Directors, or that are committed by law, by the Statutes or submitted by the University’s governing bodies.
External Scientific Advisory Committee
The External Scientific Advisory Committee is composed by five individuals, who do not belong to the Center, who have a recognized merit in the research areas of the Center, or in areas considered to be of strategic interest for their development.
The members of this Committee shall be appointed by the Scientific Council of the Center, on a proposal from the Board of Directors.
